The Role of Cellular Communication in How You Feel Every Day

Most people track how they feel in broad strokes. Good day. Bad day. Tired. Energetic. Foggy. Clear. These are the categories most of us use to describe our daily experience of health.

What’s happening underneath those categories is far more specific — and far more interesting.

Every subjective experience you have of your own body is downstream of cellular activity. When you feel energetic, it’s because your mitochondria are producing ATP efficiently and your cells are communicating clearly enough to coordinate that energy throughout your system. When you feel foggy, it’s often because cellular communication in your brain is compromised — neurons aren’t firing as efficiently, inflammatory signals aren’t being cleared as quickly, and the repair processes that normally happen during sleep aren’t keeping up with demand.

They coordinate the communication that keeps your immune system responsive, your energy production efficient, your inflammation regulated, and your repair processes running on schedule. When they’re in adequate supply, your body handles the constant demands of daily life with reserve capacity. When they’re not, you start feeling the deficit — slowly at first, then more noticeably.

How you feel every day isn’t random. It’s the result of what’s happening inside your cells. That’s actually good news — because what happens inside your cells can be supported.
